There is knowledge beyond classroom walls.
CITY OF BALANGA----Limay SHS Grade 12 students hailing from the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strand were welcomed by Bataan Peninsula State University's experts in research and engineering to learn one of technology's wonders today, BPSU-Main Campus, January 16.
The educational visit is part of their subject Media and Information Literacy under the tutelage of Mr. Melbourne Salonga.
The two Grade 12 STEM classes got an orientation from Dr. John Ryan Dizon, BPSU-College of Engineering and Architecture professor and Department of Science and Technology's project leader of Additive Manufacturing Research Laboratory (AMReL).
The learners observed the through process of creating a 3D printed object as well as saw samples and prototypes.
AMREL is the first additive manufacturing research laboratory in the country launched by DOST last 2018 with the thrust of development of new materials; testing and characterization of materials; faculty and student sharing and creating of ideas; rapid prototyping, tooling, and manufacturing; training, education, and empowerment; and designing and analysis of parts and systems (philstar.com).
BPSU is one of the two institutions in the Philippines which the DOST identified as recipient of installing a 3D research facility to advance the country's thrust towards additive manufacturing industry. The laboratory boasts high-end machines necessary for additive manufacturing
At the tail-end of the visit, the students listened to the career orientation to help them learn more about possible opportunities. BPSU representatives also informed the visiting SHS learners about the
offered programs/courses of the state university.
