PILAR, BATAAN-----In light with the 263rd founding anniversary of Bataan as a province, Limay SHS GAS 11 students joined other select secondary school learners in the second district to witness the cultural play that narrated the origin of the peninsula entitled “Alamat ng Bataan”, Pilar Convention Hall, Bataan Government Center, Ala-uli, this morning.
The homegrown theater group “Tanghalang Tatsulok” staged the play that featured Vatan, a great and honorable man of his townsfolk, who sacrificed his life to save his people from the wrath of a powerful goddess due to the shortcoming of the people to frequently give offerings in her name.
Organized by the Bataan Tourism, select high school students from Pilar, Limay and Orion watched the play together, while the afternoon session accommodated the learners from the Mariveles district.
Provincial Tourism Chairperson Alice Pizarro welcomed and educated the students about the significance of looking back to the past while dispensing some historical facts about the foundation of Bataan.
“Sabi nga ng ating Gobernador Abet, ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa kaularan na mayroon ang Bataan ngayon…Kung ano man ang narrating ng probinsya ngayon ay dahil sa mahal natin an gating nakaraan. Sa pamamagitan ng dulang ito, mas makikilala natin ang pinagmulan ng Bataan,” Pizarro exclaimed in her welcome remarks.
The former mayor of Pilar added that the activities devoted for the six-day celebration will showcase the talent of the people of Bataan with events such as the Infographics making contest, Digital Poster Making, treet Dancing, and the Float parade.
Also present in the event were Pilar Mayor Carlos F. Pizarro, Bataan Historical Council Chair Dr. Marita Navata, Bataan Tourism officers Araling Panlipunan subject heads and teachers from secondary schools in the second district.

The next staging of the legend of Bataan will be tomorrow at the Dinalupihan Civic Center, with the select secondary school students in the first district.
