Two students of Limay Senior High School proved that the school is a breeding ground of talented and artistic individuals as Izza Belle Montalvo and Alaiza Claire Orcena were named winners in a provincial tilt and a regional competition, respectively.
After being selected as Limay’s representative, Montalvo’s work was once again favored by the panel of judges from the Bataan Tourism Council as she was awarded first placer in the T-shirt design competition of the Pawikan Festival 2020 as per the organization’s Facebook post, November 18.
Montalvo bested 11 other entries who also represent their respective municipality.
In an earlier interview when she won the district competition, the Grade 12 ICT-Animation student said that she was honored to be a part of the event and that the inspiration for her entry is Mother Nature.
In this goal that she accomplished, Montalvo acknowledges her family, friends and her mentor Ms. Cheyser Gatchula for providing her the support throughout the course of the contest.
Meanwhile, Alaiza Claire Orcena, STEM 11-C student, exhibited her artistry in oral communication by finishing third in the Talentadong Kabataan Contest Spoken Poetry category which was announced last November 24 at the Facebook page of the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children – Central Luzon, the organizer of the said competition.
Mr. Verjel Macayan, LSHS teacher, coached Orcena to victory.
Orcena is fond of writing poems and joining school-based poetry competitions before, and never tried delivering her own piece orally until she decided to overcome her stage fright when she was tapped by the school to be its representative in the aforesaid regional showcase of talent.
The Talentadong Kabataan, which includes the spoken poetry and Jingle-making contests, and the Logo-Making competition were online programs to celebrate the 28th National Children’s Month.
The said Regional Sub-Committee is under the Council for the Welfare of Children which is a focal inter-agency body that advocates the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs and measures to ensure a child-friendly and child-sensitive society.
