To Improve Lives by Improving Sights.
This is the vision of Essilor Philippines Company as it conducted a Free Eye check-up to the students and employees of Limay Senior High School last Friday, November 11, through the initiative of the former OIC-Assistant Principal Mr. Mario G. Basilio.
The event accommodated Grade 11 students in the morning, followed by the Grade 12 learners in the afternoon at the Limay National High School covered court.
“Minsan mong matulungan ang bata, malaking bagay na yun,” stressed Basilio on the realization of his health initiative.
Basilio spearheaded the event as one of his last programs for the students of Limay Senior High School before his departure to his new school assignment.
“This (project) is not a matter of legacy,” said Mr. Basilio, as he underscored the partnership with Essilor prioritizes the welfare of the students.
Basilio was assigned to St. Francis National High School effective November 14, and was replaced by former LSHS teacher Mr. Ryan Jake F. Bariacto.
The project of the former assistant principal aims to reach out students who have problems with their sense of sight and be diagnosed by a licensed optometrist in person of Essilor’s medical eye expert Dra. Fiona Banadero.
Essilor donated free eye lenses to the student-recipients of their program to fulfill their mission “to Improve lives by Improving sights.”
Eyeglasses were given to a few recipients of the program on the same day of its conduct due to the availability of the lenses, while other learners will receive their eyeglasses in a few months as the company needs time for their production.
“Pagdating namin as instructed, kumpleto ang mga upuan, table, sound system so para sa akin pinakamaganda ‘tong set-up or arrangement na naabutan namin, naka ready agad,” explained Essilor Human Resources Division Manager Rosemarie Ramos when TH asked her about her insights on the school’s handling of the said eye care event.
“It has been a successful event. Okay yung experience namin dito sa school niyo,” furthered Ramos.
The Essilor team served almost 300 Grade 11 students in the morning of November 11.
Yumi Leigh Del Mundo, the school’s Supreme Student Government secretary, is flabbergasted as she was diagnosed with astigmatism by Dra. Banadero.
Still according to the SSG Secretary, the event went smoother when the optometrist arrived to accommodate the learners and school employees for the eye check-up.
