DepEd-Bataan official reveals new Brigada framework

LIMAY, BATAAN---Officials from Limay Senior High School and the Department of Education-Division of Bataan (DepEd-Bataan) articulated the salient points in fulfilling the new mission of Brigada Eskwela in today’s new normal to assure the community that the agency bats for the safety of the learners.

In her message, Mrs. Alma R. Garcia, Education Program Specialist for Mobilization and Networking of DepEd-Bataan, laid down the new framework of BE 2020 as a response to the on-going global health crisis.

“Dahil sa ating hinaharap na sitwasyon dala ng pandaigdigang pandemya ang COVID -19, ang taunang Brigada Eskwela ay patuloy pa rin upang masiguro na ang pagkakatuto ng mga bata ay patuloy. Brigada Eskwela shall play an important mechanism to enable schools to catch up with the new expectations in the new framework,” Garcia said.

Garcia differentiates the traditional BE with the BE new normal edition by stressing the need this time to forge partnership initiatives and activities that advocate the installation of several safety tenets against Covid-19 at schools and promote DepEd’s Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) at the time of pandemic.

For clear guidelines, she specifically enumerated the responsibilities of the school heads who are at the frontline of realizing the new objectives of BE 2020.

o School heads shall lead in forging partnerships with LGU or NGOs and volunteers to clean and disinfect schools, buildings and other campus facilities.

o School Heads shall engage partners or donors so the school may acquire materials that are needed in safeguarding everyone in the school from the threat of Covid-19.

o With the help from school stakeholders, the school heads shall initiate the conduct of webinars for the teachers, parents and students that tackle psychological first aid or other related interventions.

o Involve the Parent Teacher Association, teachers and students in the orientation of Learning Continuity Plan that centers on the department’s flexible learning options.

o Encourage par through the PTA sa mga possible collaborations with the schools to provide support in the delivery of undisrupted learning adapting the new framework.

o Engage parents in the promotion of the new normal of our school system.

o Engage partners in the promotion and provision of other learning options such as local radio/TV stations and other available media which can be help in flexible or remote learning as a form of Brigada Eskwela and partnership iniative to deliver the curriculum.

o Implementation of Gulayan sa Tahanan or Urban Vegetable Gardening at Home as part of Brigada Eskwela and School Community Partnerships to promote sustainable food supply at homes.

o Updating of school emergency and contingency plans so the stakeholders may know how they can extend their help to- ensure resiliency.

o Strengthen Brigada Pagbasa

o Awarding of Partnership appreciation and other school based initiatives.

Meanwhile, Limay SHS principal encouraged the community’s involvement in BE 2020 new normal edition by sharing material blessings in order to surmount the most daunting challenge among schools in these times.

In connection to the call for help by Visda, Magno Manuel, LSHS BE 2020 chairperson, imparted the cooperation of various sectors in the community and the academe to ensure the welfare of the learners amid the health crisis.

“Sa kabila po ng kinahaharap nating pandemya, pilit naming itinaguyod at isinagawa ng maa- yos ang Brigada Eskwela para po sa kapakanan ng ating mga mag-aaral sa tulong po ng aming minamahal na Mayor Nelson C. David, ang aming Vice Mayor Richie David at ng kanyang mga konsehal. Ganun din po ang General PTA, at lalung-lalo na po ang mga kasamahan ko pong kaguruan. Kami pong lahat ay sama-sama pong gagawa sa ikaaayos ng paaralan para po sa kapakanan ng mga mag-aaral namin.
